In 2003 he started training formally in Iaido and Jodo under the tutelage of Sensei Ramon Lawrence and continues to travel each year to Perth to develop his training in Iaido Jodo and Kyudo at Budokan Academy. In 2012 he accompanied Sensei Ramon Lawrence on a visit to Japan.  This trip was for a group of Australians’ that were preparing for their godan or rokukan examination. He travels to Japan each year to continue his development in the the arts and to receive instruction which has been arranged by Sensei Lawrence. He continues to teach iaido and jodo and more recently Kyudo at Pine Mountain north of Ipswich and continues to work with Japan society of Queensland preforming demonstrations of kendo, iaido and Jodo. Building a good relationship with the Japan society has provided opportunities to promote both organisations and the benefit of cultural exchange at many levels.
