Peter commenced his martial arts journey in 1981 at the Merlin Youth Centre Derby, where he trained in Boxing. In 1982, he commenced Shotokan Karate for a short period.
In 1994, Peter moved to Perth and commenced training in Zen Do Kai Karate and BJC Muay Thai. In 2001, he attained Shodan in Zen Do Kai and 1st Degree in Muay Thai.
Since beginning his training Peter has now achieved the following ranks:
• 5th Degree Karate – BJC, Zen Do Kai; Rank of Shihan
• 5th Degree Karate – Kyoshi Dean Woodhams, TetsuRyu; Rank of Shihan
• 4th Kyu Bojutsu – Kyoshi Dean Woodhams, The Dojo;
• Shodan Kenjutsu – Kyoshi, Peter James WASJS; Rank of Sensei
• Iaido Sandan – Nanadan Ramon Lawrence 8th Dan, Budokan Academy AKR Zen Ken Ren;
• 4th Degree Muay Thai – World Kickboxing Association
During his training Peter opened his first Dojo teaching Zen Do Kai and Muay Thai at Ellenbrook Martial Arts, now called Arachnid Martial Arts Academy. Peter opened his second Dojo (Wanneroo Martial Arts) in November 2015 and teaches Zen Do Kai, Muay Thai and Japanese Sword. Peter’s Martial Arts journey is extensive and diverse, and he is highly respected in the Martial Arts community and the wider community.
